Last year I was delighted when  Mike and Amy asked me to undertake their wedding photography Fennes, Essex. It’s a great venue and I always enjoy looking forward to try something new and exciting for every couple I shoot there. This was to be a March wedding and the way the weather had been in the months up to the wedding we weren’t quite sure if it was going to be a flood of torrential rain or a beautiful spring day. In fact, the pre-wedding shoot we had arranged before the big day had to be put back for exactly that reason so it was fingers crossed!

We started off outside the manor house waiting for the bridal party to arrive. Mike had arranged a really nice surprise for Amy and booked a VW camper van ‘Flo’ to bring her and her bridal party to the venue. Flo certainly looked the part, decked out in purple ribbons to match the colour theme of the day and coach work gleaming! (You can find out more about booking Flo here)

We then moved to the bridal preparation where I managed to capture Amy having her hair and make up being done without getting in the way too much! To be honest Amy was a really good sport and seemed very calm and relaxed. While I was with the girls, my assistant was downstairs with Mike and his groomsmen. As the bridal preparations were drawing to a close I went down to meet Mike and we took some group shots of them around Flo.

The ceremony went off without a hitch. Mike and Amy really made a great couple. After the ceremony we all went outside for group shots and some portraits of the bride and groom. The highlight of the wedding breakfast was undoubtedly the speeches. Amy’s mum had put together a very moving montage of Amy growing up over the years. The three best men had also put a lot of effort in presenting a multimedia speech (traditionally a time to make the groom squirm as much as possible!) – you can see Mike & Amy’s reaction in some of the photos!

The evening entertainment was provided by the excellent Cover Station – a really great set. Everyone let their hair down and had a blast. A fantastic way to celebrate with Mike and Amy on their special day.
