I came to shoot Rachael & Mike’s Ware Priory wedding by way of a recommendation from their friends whose wedding I had photographed a few years previously. It’s always nice to get a booking on this basis as it means that you already have that connection with the couple.
Ware Priory itself is ideally situated pretty much slap bang in the middle of Ware. It’s a great blend of old world, medieval architecture with all mod cons all set in picturesque riverside gardens. The staff were really helpful too, nothing was too much trouble, which is always the mark of a good venue to me.
The day started with me going to grab some photos of Rachael having her hair and make-up done at a salon just across the road from Ware Priory. She was there being ably supported by her sister and Mum and this was a great opportunity to get some shots of them together before the proper start of festivities. As it was a Saturday morning the salon was quite busy with it’s regular clients so I did my best to be inconspicuous and not get in the way too much. How well I succeeded, I’m not sure!
After the salon it was back to the Priory for the wedding and to see Mike. One great thing about weddings at Ware Priory is that the ceremony takes places in a beautiful high ceilinged room with lots of ornate stained glass windows. This makes for some great light for photography of the couple getting married.
After Rachael and Mike had formally tied the knot, speeches were held outside which, I thought, made a nice change from having them at the conclusion of the meal. Despite a few showers we managed to stay dry for the speeches and got the group shots done with only a few trip inside to dodge the rain!
The food was fantastic as was the very special cake that had been made depicting various scenes relating to the couples jobs in the emergency services. It truly was a great day and I think it’s clear from the photos just how much fun everyone was having.
So congratulations guys – a great Ware Priory Wedding, a fantastic day (despite one or two showers) and a brilliant way to start your married together. All the very best for the future!
