Lee and Trudi’s was the last wedding of 2013 I shot at the beautiful Fennes estate in Bocking, near Braintree, Essex.
Fennes is one of my favourite venues to photograph at at. It is located in 100 acres of beautiful Essex countryside and yet is only a stone’s throw from London. The centrepeice is undoubtedly the 15th century manor house. This is something of a tardis with a wedding pavilion and even bigger banqueting hall discretely tucked round the back. The ground floor rooms are all high ceilinged Georgian affairs, each with its own distinctive decor and feel. The first floor is given over to a spacious bridal preparation area of two good sized rooms. The girls from Bespoke Occasions Weddings who were doing the bridal parties hair and make up were very accommodating with me as the photographer. They did a great job of making everyone even more beautiful than normal and didn’t mind me getting under their feet too much!!
A winter wedding at Fennes was a great way to see in the Christmas season with a lovely tree, decorations and roaring open fires! Fennes is a fantastic venue combining all these excellent features and facilities in a great setting.
After the ceremony we managed to get everyone outside for a big group shot just before the wind and rained arrived. This was the day that large portions of the East Coast fell into the sea due to storms! From a photography aspect we were really spoilt for choice for stunning locations and backdrops. We did the rest of the group shots inside while the wind and rain did its thing outside. Fortunately the weather cleared up in the evening and we were able to get some shots at the front of the house.
It was a great day at Fennes and I think that shows in the photos. I’m certainly looking forward to going back to Fennes for a wedding there in March.
If you are planning to get married at Fennes and would like to discuss your photography requirements, please just drop me a line and I would be glad to chat it through with you.
