Ivy Hill Hotel Wedding Photography

Karen & Tony’s Ivy Hill Hotel Wedding in Essex was an absolute blast and such good fun to shoot.

I first met them last year at a wedding fair in Chelmsford. I think we all ‘clicked’ (photography pun alert) right from the get go. So it was great news when they decided to book me.

Although I have shot at lots of different venues in Essex, this was my first Ivy Hill Hotel. I was immediately struck by how helpful and accomodating the staff were. The forecast for the day was for some rain and the manager made sure I pretty much had free run of the place. This made planning for wet weather contingencies so much easier. The thing that really clinched the deal for me though was when the staff very kindly brought me an unsolicited cup of coffee. Everyone knows that the quickest way to a wedding photographer’s heart is copious amounts of hot coffee!

The Ceremony & celebration

Karen & Tony had their ceremony at a very picturesque church just down the road from the venue. The bridal party arrived in style in a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce. This provided a great opportunity to grab some shots of Karen before she made her way into the church and down the aisle. The vicar who officiated was great fun. She put everyone at ease and really made the ceremony very special and personal for the couple.

After the ceremony it was back to the Ivy Hill Hotel for drinks and group shots before the wedding breakfast. The newly married couple were good sports as well. They braved the rain to get some shots in the grounds of the hotel before dinner when we would lose the light.

After the speeches and cake cutting, Karen and Tony treated everyone to an impressive first dance.  They had obviously put a lot of hard work into the routine and it paid off wonderfully . A special treat which was a  highlight of the evening, for me, were the sets provided by The Hayward Sisters. I have to say they were absolutely fantastic and really made the party!

All too soon this Ivy Hill Hotel wedding was over – but there’s lots of photographs to remember a fabulous day!
