Naomi and Ryan’s Channels Estate wedding was such a great day to be part of and shooting it so much fun. Naomi and I actually first met some two years ago at a Hylands House wedding show and she booked me there and then showing that it’s best to get your photographer early!
Channels Estate itself is a great venue for a wedding. One of the best things I liked about it was it had everything you needed right there; from an elegant barn for the ceremony / reception, beautiful outside space for your guests to enjoy and accomodation on site for those that wanted to stay over. All this makes for a pretty stress free day for the couple. Plus the staff were fab and nothing was too much trouble. All these elements combined really did make it feel a very special and intimate affair.
I spent the morning with Naomi and the bridal party as they got ready. One of the personal touches I thought was a really good idea was getting dried rose petals ready to be used for confetti after the ceremony. I think everyone had fun getting ready and this really comes through in the photos. At the end of the bridal preparation Naomi looked absolutely wonderful (not that she didn’t before, of course!) as Ryan mentioned in his speech.
After the ceremony we had an opportunity to get some shots of the newly weds in the grounds of Channels Estate. With a bit of creative thinking we were able to get a variety of images and the weather certainly wasn’t problem for what was fast becoming autumn.
All too soon it was time for the wedding breakfast followed by speeches. And after the cake cut and first dance it was time to get the party started!
One of the great things I enjoyed about shooting this wedding was the mix between the slightly alternative and traditional which worked really well. Naomi’s tattoos are absolutely fantastic and real works of art which obviously mean a lot to her and which I wanted to capture in the photos.
Other than discovering I was at school with Ryan’s dad and uncle (which made me feel very old) I had a great time at Naomi & Ryan’s Channels wedding.
I wish the happy couple all the very best for their future together x
