You simply can’t beat a Brighton beach engagement shoot. Whether it’s the height of summer with bright sun and blue water or the more atmospheric, faded glamour of the off-season; Brighton beach has it all.
So it was only apt that having first met at the Mercure Hotel on the beach front some months previously, we returned for the pre-wedding shoot. As you can probably tell from the weather in the photos this was before the full lockdown impact of the C-19 pandemic.
The great thing about a Brighton beach engagement is that whatever the season or weather, there are always great opportunities for capturing some fantastic shots. Even something as simple as skimming stones in the sea (and let’s face it, who doesn’t love doing that on a pebble beach like Brighton) can give some great candid shots of the couple.
I offer a pre-wedding shoot for all my couples and it is something I would recommend. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a Brighton beach engagement shoot, it could be anywhere that has some significance or meaning for the couple. Although I would always caution about having the engagement photography done at the same venue where the wedding will take place. If you have great weather for the pre-wedding shoot and it rains or isn’t as nice on the actual day it can be difficult not to wistfully compare the two. You can see a number of other pre-wedding shoots on this blog if you wish, like this one here.
For this particular shoot I had already worked out a short route for us to walk that would take in some of the sights without turning into a massive hike! This was a good opportunity for Cassandra and Sharon to have some fun photos taken ahead of their big day and we all agreed it was time well spent.
With the uncertainty of the lockdown I know a lot of people’s wedding plans have had to change. Hopefully we are beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel. I am certainly looking to Cassandra & Sharon’s wedding that has had to be pushed back to next year. I hope that having the photos from our Brighton beach engagement shoot has given them a little something to hold on to in expectation of the big day.
